Netball Development

 

 

Denbighshire has its own Netball Development Officer, for national events or information regarding Welsh Netball Association go to www.welshnetball.co.uk

The role of the netball development officer is to work in partnership with Denbighshire County Council and the Welsh Netball Association to deliver a netball programme across the county which includes:-

  • Developing clubs in Denbighshire to meet Welsh Netball’s Club Mark scheme criteria of gold, silver or bronze. Working on coach education, umpire development and club structures.
  • Working with schools, teachers and leisure centres to set up junior community clubs.
  • Holding netball fun days during Summer and Easter holidays.
  • Introducing the new UKCC (UK Coaching Certificate) netball coaching courses.

 

Coach Education

Starting Out Coaching

This is the basic level of coaching qualification, which gives an outline knowledge of netball. Holders may assist a qualified coach.

UKCC Level 1

UKCC Level One is a 3 day course to include a variety of theoretical and practical modules equipping coaches with the knowledge and skills to assist at club level.

UKCC Level 2

UKCC Level two and modules to assist current coaches to transfer their existing awards onto the UKCC framework are scheduled for launch in January 2007 Welsh Netball are working closely alongside England and Scotland to ensure the delivery on time. 

 

Umpire Education

Q Umpiring Award

This course is aimed at beginners and novices. The course develops theory and practical umpiring skills.

Level 1 Umpiring Course

This is the standard level of umpiring qualification for all club umpires working at local level. The award gives a general overview of all aspects of netball, and a basic introduction to umpiring techniques. Candidates can then work towards their C Award.

Level 2 Umpiring Course

This is the advanced level of umpiring qualification, and is suitable for umpires working with all standards of players, from beginners to elite level. Candidates can then work towards their B Award.

 

Clubs

Prestatyn Ladies

This team plays in the Flintshire Netball League Div 3, and are open to over 16’s of all abilities. Contact the Netball Development Officer for more information.

Denbigh Ladies Netball Club

A club for ages 15 and over. They meet every Wednesday from 8-9.30pm at Denbigh Leisure Centre. For more information please contact denbighnetball@aol.com

Ruthin Ladies Netball Club - www.ruthinnetballclub.com

The website carries info on the club, including fixtures and results, plus an open invitation to others to train with the squad which plays in Forresters Flintshire Netball League (Division 4).

Rhyl Leisure Centre

Netball sessions for Ladies of all abilities every Thursday 7-8pm at Rhyl Leisure Centre. Everyone Welcome.

 

Junior Netball

There are netball sessions held weekly in Leisure Centres across Denbighshire for U12’s. They are fun sessions and there is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy.
